Ah, a Bearer of a Grand Cross! Let’s take a closer look. … Hmm… Quite possibly, what we see here is the basic structure of the astral body of a tortured, perhaps even mad, genius. If he is hetero, one might hope he has a seasoned, understanding, faithful and caring woman by his side. Hetero? Well, the conjunction of Mars and Venus in the 5th House under the Aquarian vault

Mars-Venus

makes his intimate inclination a tossup, more a matter of a deliberate choice, or rather chance, than as a given.

A given is the heartfelt sense of ambition. He was born with it, and as he came of age, it probably became a prevalent feature in his personality. This is due to Sun in Capricorn in the 4th House.

As he grew up, he might have had a slightly nerdy, even obsessive, persona, focusing on intuitive, odd solutions to common problems and a way of speaking his mind, wether fit or not. A streak of paranoia or sense of social awkwardness might have been an issue back them, some of which might linger into adulthood.

Vocationally, he is a visionary – probably a practical one at that – with a keen sense of potential where others see none. A Creative Solutions guy. If he was able to utilize the pain of a sense of lonely, heavy destiny (the Grand Cross) he has grown quite some grit. People might fear him, or in other ways sense a hidden or informal power in his presence. His aura might, due to this, be a tad larger than proportionate, like the aura of a spider or a wasp, compared to other insects of similar size. Sometimes men with a relatively humble frame will fill an entire stadium with their presence.

Our man is goal oriented by talent and relational by ambition. The relational part is easier to reflect upon, but because of the ambitious Sun in Sagittarius, the goal focus is still prevalent as he looks back on life. Also, the goal focus is accompanied by a rather keen emotional intelligence, especially concerning practical matters, resources and realistic investments. He has, in spite of his wild imagination, a knack for matters of consequence.

He does not naturally express himself in a very literal manner, but is likely to use metaphors in a creative way. As he grew up, he might have been frustrated by other’s literalism and inability to pick up on the more poetic wisdom of practical matters. He might even share the philosopher Fiechte’s sentiment that the abstract is more concrete than what people call the concrete.

And well, it’s lonely at the top.

Even when it doesn’t come through in the way he wants to, he is comfortable with his own intellect. He relies on it, believes in it and doesn’t take his own notions at face value. It is his safe space. Every realization is a window to further exploration, not a dead end.

If we take a closer look att his Grand Cross – the red square so dominant in the chart – we find that it links his intellect in his safe space to his inquisitive and somewhat ruthless persona; to his visionary vocation and to his existential pain pertaining to the paradox of setting boundaries and allowing inspirations to touch his soul. The links between these four distinct qualities all demand effort, but of course effort accepted builds muscle, so as an adult he may not experience this strain as a strain, as much as a virtue.

This potential virtue, then, is the synergy of

2. Intuitive thought in appearance
  1. Vision of potential in vocational relations
  2. Intuitive, original thought in appearance
  3. Confidence in his intellect, and
  4. A No-Pain-No-Gain approach to inspirations
1. Vision of Potential
3. Confidence in intellect

This is the circular framing of the Grand Cross. The actual cross consists of the two oppositions:

  1. The opposition of vision and intellect (don’t just wing it, be conscientious)
  2. The opposition of intuition and grit (try to go with the flow sometimes)
4. Grit in inspiration

The perpetual harmonizing of these four sometimes conflicting or competing qualities is his greatest virtue. The neglectance or failure to do so is his heaviest burden.

But there is more to this chart than the outstanding Grand Cross. The Moon and the North Node are conjunct in House 9. This gives him a keen sense of purpose, which in turn can help him utilize the harsh dynamic in the Grand Cross.

But it is ambition which is the motor in all this. His drive is strong but he can’t quite detect where it comes from. No wonder: It comes from below the line of his reflective awareness: from a place of territorial concerns. He wants to make a place for himself in the world, and it would be surprising if he hadn’t done so at 59.

And he has a kind of superpower. Like his entire generation, he has a rather observant sense of twisted emotions in deep places. He picks up on people’s hidden feelings. If someone is in grief, he can sense the hidden joy in this grief. Most likely without losing his compassion. If someone is in rage, he can sense the hidden serenity concealed in this rage, and so forth.

This is typical of our entire generation. Particular for this man, however, is that this sense of hidden emotions is directly linked to the organ of emotional intelligence and to his sense of purpose.

This might sound good – and it may indeed be good – but it can also screw things up. He is so ultra sensitive to peoples vibes that he can overthink it and become paranoid, overreact and lose allies. As one of the nicer elders in my craft put it:

” … you are extremely talented and creative. Because you respond so deeply to stimuli, you may have difficulty in separating truth from fiction. The illusions you create about yourself and others can make your relationships disorderly or confused. You closely identify with other people, places, and things and in the process sometimes lose your own identity. An escapist, you are trying to avoid finding a solution to your own emotional insecurity and instability.

Although you are creative and have much artistic appreciation, you may find it difficult to express this in a useful way. You should develop your talents through training. It is important not to compare yourself with others.

In your professional skills, you underestimate your potentials and tend to assume that others are more qualified. Because you are so extremely sensitive and exquisitely aware of others people’s problems, you could be a fine doctor, analyst, or researcher.

Your personal relationships suffer from the same illusions as your other interests. Satisfying romantic relationships require your realistic attention and willingness to make necessary adjustments. The love between you and your mate must include acceptance of domestic responsibilities and of human frailties, and the understanding that compromise can avert estrangement.”

As a slightly impatient, visionary idealist, he tends to attract interesting people and, as I said, maybe to repel som potential allies. A little him goes a long way, he is strong medicine, but in the right context he could work wonders.
